PAGAN AND ARCHEOLOGICAL TOUR OF THE UKRAINE - Jun 27 - Jul 9, 2010
For the first time, we are pleased to be offering a two week tour of the Ukraine for those with an interest in the Pre-Christian and Folkloric cultures of Eastern Europe.
Once we receive your deposit of $500 we will send you a registration form. Payment is due in full by May 27th

Trip Includes: All transportation in Ukraine, hotels, excursions, breakfasts and one dinner. We will also hopefully get to a Kupala's Day Festival in Lviv.
Price is $1965 per person, with a $200 single room supplement fee. If you are a single female we can set you up with a roommate. If you are a single male, we can set you up with a roommate only if another single male signs up with a request for one.
Price does not include airfare. We can help you arrange for air if you'd like.

ITINERARY:
June 26th - Evening Flight out of US and Canada
Day 1, Sun, June 27th: Arriving at Kyiv/Boryspil airport today.Night at hotel Ukrainaâ
Day 2, Mon, June 28th: Today, a Kyiv city tour guided by a Ukrainain ridnovir (member of the Native Pagan Faith) .Volodymyr's mountain - site of the original palace of Prince Vladimir and his six Pagan idols, Khoryvytsya mountain, Lysa gora (The infamous Bald Mountain, reputed to be the gathering place of all Witches every May Eve). Night at the hotel
Day 3, Tue, June 29th: Excursion to Trypillya village (50 km. from Kyiv), and museums of Trypillian culture (5-3 cent. B.C.). The Trypillian culture is that which was so celebrated by archaeologist, Marija Gimbutas. They are the culture that brought us the wonderful prehistoric Goddess potteries. Return to Kyiv. Departure by overnight train to Ternopil.
Day 4, Wed, June 30th: Arriving by train to Ternopil. Trip to Bogit mountain, near Zbruch river where the famous four faced statue called "Sviantevid" was found. National park Podillya Tovtry Medoboryâ - one of the most awe inspiring nature preserves in all of Europe. A visit to Hermit's Cave and return to Ternopil. Night at hotel Ternopilâ
Day 5, Thu, July 1st: Ternopil - Borshiv Verteba cave, Monastyrok - this is a fantastic Trypillian cave where the bull Goddess amulets were found. We will also visit a breathtaking Pagan temple and sacrificial dolmen on a cliff. Arrival to Kamyanetsa-Podilsk. Dinner Night at hotel Daysa.
Day 6, Fri, July 2nd: Visit to the forts in St.Kamyanetsâ-Podilsâ and at Khotyn near Dniester river. The area also houses a museum with wonderful wood and stone Pagan idols. Travel to Chernivtsi. Night at hotel Bukovinaâ.
Day 7, Sat, July 3rd: Chernivtsi - Free time (optional trip to Balamutivka cave with rock carvings at Dniester river). Later: A Chernivtsi city tour and visit to Chernivtsi University, former Bishop's residence.
Day 8, Sun, July 4th: Chernivtsi to Roztoky In Carpathian mountains along the river Cheremosh, Today we venture in the Carpathians to have a BarbequeNight at cottagea rural hata (cottage). Overnight stay in the hata. These cottages often only have one or two rooms with a separate kitchen building and huge piech (stove) with sleeping areas. We will all be piled into the same rooms for a feeling of how the Hutsul really live(d).
Day 9, Mon, July 5th: Free time in Roztoky, a picturesque mountain village along the Cheremosh. Later, a visit to the Hutsul Museum of Folk Musical Instruments in Kryvorivnya Village and traditional Hutsul house "Ghrazhda". Night at private cottage in Kosiv.
Day 10, Tue, July 6th: Kosiv is a center of folk hand-crafts in the Ukraine. We will visit the prive collections of folk craftspeople and then on to the Kolomiya museums of Pysanky (painted eggs) and Hutsul Folk Art. We travel then to the beautiful city of Lviv - Night at the hotel Viennaâ
Day 11, Wed, July 7th: Museum of folk architecture in Lviv, City tour which includes the Museum of Pharmacology and Alchemy.Night at hotel.
Day 12, Thu, July 8th: Free day in Lviv - shopping, sightseeing, sleeping - anything you choose to do. Departure by night train to Kyiv. If you choose to fly out of Lviv instead of taking the train back to Kyiv - we can get you to the airport today.
Day 13, Frie, July 9th: Arrival to Kyiv. Transfer to Boryspil airport.
